BLITZ TORTE
- 1 yellow cake mix
- Water called for in cake mix
- 4 eggs, separated
- ¼ c. oil
- ¼ tsp. almond extract
- ¾ c. sugar
- Slivered almonds
- Mix cake mix, water, egg yolks, oil, and almond extract. Put in buttered 9x13 inch pan. Beat 4 egg whites with ¾ cup white sugar until stiff. Spread on top of cake batter. Sprinkle slivered almonds on top. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until done. (The meringue will fall as it cools.) Great as a "shortcake" with any fresh fruit.
