Foreword
FOREWARD
(From the Third Edition, Fifth Printing – 2002)
“THE LARSON’S FAVORITE RECIPES” was originally assembled and printed in 1964, to insure the preservation of the unwritten recipes for Mom’s Swedish Rye Bread and other sweet dishes she made, and for Dad’s many main dish meats, vegetables, Chinese and Swedish foods.
A Second Edition was printed in 1984 which contained most of the original recipes as well as many new recipes submitted by the Larson “CLAN”, including children, grandchildren, nieces, in-laws, and others who had joined the “CLAN” since the first edition.
The Third Edition, last printed in 2002, is very similar to the second edition. However, a number of new recipes were added and a few deleted. An index was also included that is helpful in locating your favorites of “THE LARSON’S FAVORITE RECIPES” (if you are lucky enough to own a printed copy).
We do not claim credit for originating all of these recipes, but they are recipes that have been used by us over the years and found to be good. Thanks to all who have shared your favorite recipes. Happy Cooking!

Electronic Version
This electronic version is based on the 3rd edition (2002) and was created in May 2017 by Gene’s son-in-law, Stan Hadley, with help from his wife Rosalie Larson Hadley and son Aaron Hadley. We scanned the cookbook into Word and converted it for the recipe application Paprika. The ingredient lists were expanded to include all that are mentioned in the directions, and some titles and directions were modified for clarity. Gene and Ellen Larson were instrumental in proofing the text.
Our daughter-in-law Chanary Hadley then created this website so the recipes could be uploaded from Paprika. She added the capabilities for adding comments and searching all recipes by ingredient, title, submitter, or any other text. Feel free to add comments and pictures to your favorite recipes so that others will know which are especially tasty and how you use these recipes. If you see any necessary corrections or modifications, please also list those in your comments and/or send us a note.
