SKANSK CABBAGE SOUP

SKANSK CABBAGE SOUP
 
Ingredients
  • 1 med. head cabbage
  • 4 med. potatoes, quartered
  • 2 Tbsp. minced onion
  • 2 Tbsp. minced celery
  • 1 can chicken broth
  • 1-1/2 lbs. pork chops
  • ¼ c. white sugar
  • ¼ c. brown sugar
  • ¼ c. brown syrup
  • ½ stick butter
  • salt and pepper
  • 2 c. or more water
Instructions
  1. Cut chops into serving portions (2 inch square). Salt and pepper and brown in half of the butter. Add onion, celery and the broth and simmer until meat is partly done. Add water to keep meat well covered. Shred cabbage and brown in pan, using ½ the butter. Add the salt, sugars and syrup and stir until cabbage is well browned. Add to meat. Simmer until done.
