SPANISH STEAK

SPANISH STEAK
Serves: 5
 
Ingredients
  • 1-1/2 lb. round steak (3/4" thick)
  • ¼ c. flour
  • 4 Tbsp. butter or other shortening
  • 1 chicken bouillon cube dissolved in a little hot water
  • ¾ tsp. salt
  • ½ c. water or chicken broth
  • 1 can condensed mushroom soup
Instructions
  1. Dredge the meat on both sides with flour and pound with mallet or heavy saucer until all the flour is pounded into the meat and the size of the meat is nearly doubled. Put shortening in pan and brown the meat slowly and well for 15 minutes. Add salt and water (or broth) and simmer over very slow fire until water is absorbed. Now add condensed soup; cover and continue cooking slowly until meat has cooked one hour. Cut into serving portions.
